This? Again?
If advice was good, people would sell it.
Welcome back to 5 links you need to start the week right- your creative industry digest. If you like this, drop a ♡ and let's connect.
1. YOU CAN QUIT
As someone who closed a business that was working — because I was burnt out and moving to a new country — and had a massive identity crisis after, this piece resonated. "The biggest thing I've learnt in business is the cost of indecision. Every time you sit in limbo, hesitating, overthinking, you're silently paying for it." Found on For Starters, whose founder I interviewed over at I LIKE NETWORKING
2. I GUESS WE'RE TALKING ABOUT EMMA GREDE
I REALLY didn't want to partake in the Grede discourse. In portuguese we have a saying: if advice was good, people would sell it. I also think we - as a society - minimize the role of LUCK and SYSTEMIC BARRIERS in way too many stories. That said - Katie Gatti Tassin's take is ON POINT. She has yet to encounter a self-help book written by a man that results in a conversation about whether the advice prioritises flexible schedules and universal childcare. The implicit assumption is that it’s not their problem to solve.
3. THE ANKLER JUST LEFT SUBSTACK (SORT OF)
The Ankler is moving off Substack onto their own platform. The media company reportedly brings in millions in revenue with only 18 full-time staffers. The next wave of newsletters, they say, is about building durable businesses. Newsletters can be big business.
4. ALL THIS TIME HAS TO BE PURCHASED
As someone who is ALWAYS RANTING about how society undervalues creatives, this whole newsletter has been added to my Sublime boards.
"There is no cultural production without financial support.
It is simply not possible to become an accomplished painter or musician or novelist or poet without spending a lot of time experimenting. All this time has to be purchased, one way or another."
5. POP QUIZ FOR YOU
Billboard published its Latin Women in Music 2026 list and as a Brazilian, I always feel like an imposter. Brazilian funk, MPB, sertanejo seems to exist in a parallel universe. Maybe we should claim our own ranking?
